Job Details

Anesthesia is the art and science of rendering a patient insensible to pain by the administration of anesthetic agents and related drugs and procedures. As independent licensed health professionals, CRNAs/AA-Cs are responsible and accountable for their practice. CRNA/AA-C practice includes pre-anesthetic preparation, anesthesia induction, maintenance and emergence, post-anesthetic care and responding to emergency situations related to airway management and cardiac life support techniques. CRNAs/AA-Cs practice according to their expertise, state statutes and regulations, and institutional policy.  At Gundersen, both CRNAs and AA-Cs work in the “care team” model under the leadership of an anesthesiologist.

 

Education/Learning Experience: - Required: Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor OR Graduate of an accredited AA educational program.

 

Skills/Knowledge: - Required: Demonstrates current competency in those clinical responsibilities for which the candidate is approved. Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state.

 

Licenses/Certifications: - Required: Eligible for state licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Wisconsin, and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing OR eligible for certification as an AA, and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the practice of anesthesiology.
