Join our team as a Float Personnel Coordinator where you will be the scheduling mastermind for departments behind the scenes.


This position will work 40 hours every two weeks with the potential to pick up/cover additional shifts. The schedule could vary between 6:30am - 4:00pm likely working a minimum of two days per week.  

The Float Personnel Coordinator assists the Manager with the daily scheduling operations of the float pool staff to provide provider and/or staff coverage for PTO, diversion, FMLA, or position vacancies across the Gundersen Lutheran system.  On a daily/hourly basis, the Float Personnel Coordinator assigns staff and/or provider coverage based on skill ability, location and level of priority, monitors staff performance as it related to scheduling in order to ensure compliance with organization policy and performance standards, coordinates and conducts orientation and training in operations of various hospital units, regional and clinic departments and continuously adjusts daily work assignments in order to provide safe, competent, and quality patient care.  The Float Personnel Coordinator works with front line and management to maintain communication with clinic departments, hospital units, regional clinics, Administrative Directors, Managers, Supervisors, regional business office coordinators and float staff and is responsible for assigning daily float coverage based on skill ability, location and level of priority.  The Float Personnel Coordinator directly interfaces with inpatient and outpatient managers, regional managers, supervisors, administrative directors, business office coordinators and lead staff to ensure safe staffing strategies are implemented in order to meet the needs of immediate and future patient care needs.  Additional duties may include but are not limited to typing, filing, data collection, analysis of statistics, ordering supplies and miscellaneous support functions.  Serves as a liaison between float staff and/or providers and the entire Gundersen Lutheran system.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinates daily float coverage assignments across the Gundersen Lutheran system based on priority of requests, staff personnel availability, regional location and skill ability to ensure safe and high quality patient care.

  • Works collaboratively with managers, supervisors, administrative directors, regional business office coordinators and lead staff across the system to determine and coordinate immediate and future staffing patterns while staying within budget parameters.

  • Coordinates scheduling for orientation and mandatory training for float staff and participates in or supports training new employees to achieve conformance to organizational, departmental, and regulatory standards.

  • Assists the Manager to gather performance measurements of assigned staff related to service and quality. Tracks and trends performance over time.
  • As directed by the Manager, develops, documents, and implements procedures that ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards, and employee's performance.
  • Under the direction of the Manager acts as a back-up Timekeeper for float staff.
  • Serves as a liaison between float staff and the entire Gundersen Lutheran system.

    Position Qualifications
    Education and Experience:
    Required High School Diploma or equivalency 
    Desired High School Diploma or equivalency +  

    Organization and time management coursework. Customer Service training.
    Work Experience:
    Required 2 years of experience in customer service, healthcare or retail setting.
    Desired 5-7 years of experience in a healthcare setting with personnel scheduling experience, Kronos system experience.
